Foster Mom  Jolene Wilcox

❤️ ❤️  An Army’s Repeat Failed Foster   ❤️ ❤️

Just one of the reasons Jolene is so special to us all

Jolene is an Army’s Legacy Foster Home. She loves all her fosters, and has fallen completely in love and adopted two of them, fondly earning her the honored title of “Failed Foster.”

From Jolene:
“I’m 44 years old been married for 27 years to my husband Steve have two great kids mike 26 Brianna 24.  My family and dogs are my world..   A few years ago I lost my father and step-father both to cancer a couple years apart and I couldn’t find a way to deal with the grief.  I started fostering dogs, and that’s where it all started!  Helping them helped me.  I have said since that I didn’t save them, they saved me.”

Saving Deuce

Deuce’s story is a tough one. Deuce, 9 years old, and his mom, Cassie, 12 years old, lived with a woman who was in and out of treatment, leaving the dogs alone to fend for themselves. Even though the woman’s family would not relinquish the dogs to rescue, Army’s spent thousands of dollars to get the two dogs to good health.

The family then gave the dogs to a different rescue who separated the bonded pair.  Imagine the sorrow of losing your life long companion!  All along the line, Deuce was treated VERY poorly. Here are the physical traumas poor Deuce suffered after going to the wrong rescue:
–  Ulcerated Eye
–  Spinal Cord Trauma
–  Lung Contusions
–  Lung Puncture
–  Luxated Chest Bone

This was no accident! Army’s Legacy took quick action, having Deuce signed over and making sure that he received swift and thorough veterinary care, then on to rehab with his foster mom, Jolene.

This type of treatment simply cannot be tolerated in the rescue community and is exactly what Army’s Legacy is working to bring to an end.  A cruelty case has been initiated and is currently under investigation.

Deuce has since won the heart of his foster mom, Jolene, and has a forever home to call his own!

What Can I Feed My Dog Over the Holidays??

The holiday season is a time of sharing and we are all guilty of over sharing our holiday foods with our pups!  We need to be extra vigilant and treat our pups with safety in mind!  Here are two very helpful charts and the corresponding websites to help you share the RIGHT foods with your pup!

If you think your pet may have ingested something toxic, please contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 immediately for assistance.

Meet Tex

My name is Tex. I’m a young, happy boy with lots of love to give! I used to have a female owner and I was so fond of her, but I’m not too happy with young children. They make me very nervous. So now I need to find a new home with no children (Amanda says no exceptions!)
I’m a shadow dog and will happily follow you everywhere. I have a bit of anxiety when alone, but I’m working on it! I go to doggie daycare and WOW!! Do I LOVE all the other dogs! I play and play all day, then when I get home I’m a couch potato!  I chew on my toys and lounge on the couch.  I have a big doggie friend in the home I’m staying in now and we get along great sharing our space.

I know some very useful commands and I’m a good boy in the house and hold it until I go outside!  I may need a refresher on using a crate but that’s ok, I love to learn and am REALLY looking forward to having a new person of my own who will help me and teach me lots of things so I can be the BEST boy ever!  Adopt me and I will LOVE LOVE LOVE you ❤️❤️❤️

I promise lots of big smiles for you ❤️
