In Loving Memory Of
Katy Marsh
You will be deeply missed
Here is Katy’s obituary, in her own words.
Katy Marsh, of Clinton and Madison
If you are reading this, I have passed and am through the pearly gates. I contracted Covid-19 and was suffering from the effects of “extended Covid”. Born in November, 1996, I passed on October 2, 2021 in the loving arms of my parents.
What a life I had, blessed with my parents Cathy and Rockwell Marsh of Madison, who traveled halfway around the world to get me. I earned the nickname “Smiley” from Pat because, at age 2 years, my wide bright smile could be seen before I entered a room. Dad called me Katiebear. Eric called me Kayday. Mom would yell Catherine Grace Marsh!
Together with Eric, aka the “best brother in the world”, I spent my life “salty”. I was “forced” to sail dinghies at Pettipaug Yacht club and I earned my CT boater’s license. Our sailing parents plopped us aboard “Sirens Song”, our 42 footer, and we explored the NE coast with the Baldwin Yacht Club. Great Salt Pond was my favorite mooring field with Oak Bluffs a close second!
Our family had adventures in Moscow, Stowe, Trapp Family, Acadia, tenting in the White mountains, cabins in Vermont, Naples, Barcelona too!
At age 8, my mom made the mistake of putting me in a saddle. I wound up a talented hunter jumper riding at Cedar Brook, Westbrook Hunt Club, and at Mystic Valley where I participated on the IEA Team during high school. I got to canter on the beach at Hammo on my 12th birthday!I was a CHJA hunter jumper finalist during hurricane warnings! I taught young equestrians and volunteered at High Hopes Therapeutic Center in Old Lyme. Buddy, Appledapples and Flower here I come!
I loved my friends, my red Jeep, my F-150, horses, hosting parties, vacuuming, decorating, Videography, hydroponics, renting Airbnb’s, 80s music, chickens, ordering online, eating baked potatoes, raising rare indoor plants, riding our John Deere Gator, growing herbs, performing on stage at DHHS and applying tons of finger nail polish.
I attended St Lawrence University where I was a celebrated writing center tutor. I froze in upstate NY but hung out in Ottawa, Quebec City and Montreal. I graduated with a 3.5 from Brooklyn College then braved the subways working in Manhattan. As a Senior Business Development Rep at Planful , I sold financial and accounting software at the C level. Their top performer, I was asked to train sharing my “secret sauce”. Business trips took me out West and on the last, in San Diego, I contracted Covid’s Delta variation. I struggled to rebound.
I leave behind the best parents in the world, my beloved brother Eric, our “Dinghy dog” Dodger, my cats Cuddles, Mishka and pup Laika. My loving Aunt Judy, cousins Rusty, Kim, Yo, Andrew, Anna. Bill & Andrea Creaser, Barb & Ken Cook and Tom & Mary Creaser. James, Caroline, Diana, Eileen and Anna.
I’ll miss all my beloved friends and you know who you are. Eric, BFF Morgan, Mark and Ashton —we had fun around the fire pit!
If you want to remember me with a donation please consider Army’s Legacy Animal Rescue in Bristol, CT. This is where I got my pup. https://armyslegacy.org/donate/
Burial Is scheduled at West cemetery in Madison on the Boston Post Road. October 16 at 11:00 AM. A memorial service will take place at the first Congregational Church on meetinghouse Lane at 12 noon. https://www.fccmadison.org/ After the service we will have a reception in Hubley Hall at 1 o’clock.
