Dog and Cat Rescue
We rescue animals from neglect, abuse, abandonment and dangerous or unhealthy situations. They become our Legacies forever.
Care and Rehabilitation
Every animal coming into our rescue receives comprehensive medical and behavioral care. Our amazing network of foster homes and other volunteers all work to ensure that our Legacies are happy and healthy!

Army’s Legacy is determined to find the best home for each and every pet in our care. We look for what is the best for the pet: A family that will love them forever.
Sanctuary
We recently acquired a beautiful property in Westbrook CT. We are working hard to get our facility up and running by May 2025, including a full time and full service sanctuary for our permanent residents.
A Plea for YOUR help
Army’s Legacy Animal Rescue And Sanctuary, Inc. and I, the Founder, Amanda Vecchio Armstrong, are reaching out on behalf of our Nonprofit 501c3 Rescue Organization in hopes for help. As many of you know we have been absolutely blessed with the most amazing opportunity of a lifetime recently. We acquired a facility so that we can help and save more animals and this is in addition to us being foster based throughout CT.
Unfortunately we will not be up as quickly as we hoped for. The facility is not even close to being ready. There are many updates that need to be made and many things that need to be fixed. We completed PHASE 1 on January 19th and removed everything that wasn’t nailed down due to the rodent infestation. We completed PHASE 2 of cleaning on Sunday, January 26th. During all this we have had dumpster, pest control, contractors, plumbers, security, electricians, septic and well companies out, Frosti cure out, fencing people… We have scheduled kennel and epoxy workers for pricing.. we are in contact with an oil company, we need to get a window company out as well. I cannot even explain all that is going on.
We NEED funding. We NEED donations. We NEED your help. We are looking upwards without a blink of an eye $50k to bring us where we need to open and to do this right!! All donations going to the prior facility stopped. We hope those donors will see all we are doing and continue their generosity to rescue.

Our Mission
Army’s Legacy is working to create a movement in dog and cat rescue by being a leader setting markedly improved standards and best practices in the animal rehoming landscape.
We use love, care and kindness in every aspect of our efforts. As a result, we are ensuring that each animal we rescue receives every chance possible to succeed. We offer focused care and rehabilitation, resulting in a high rate of successful adoptions and sanctuary for those who cannot make the transition.

Army’s Legacy is a conscientious and responsible rescue. We do not adopt out ANY pet without first ensuring the pet is in good health, both mentally and physically.
Adopting VS Buying
In every town, in every state, in every country, on every continent, there are animals who, through no fault of their own, are desperately in need of a loving home. They deserve love and security. It is for this reason that we advocate and facilitate adoption.
There is a right way and a wrong way to adopt a pet, just as there is a right way and a wrong way to purchase a pet. Read on as we go into more detail.

How to Find the Perfect Pet
Our foster families get to know our animals on a one to one basis, learning their needs and personalities. With this knowledge and lots of experience, we help potential adopters through the process every step of the way. Through interviews and meet and greets, we help each family find the right pet who will fit them and their lifestyle. Even if we do not have the right pet for you right now, fill out the application and have a talk with us. We will keep an eye out for the perfect family member for you!
